Peter Kageyama headshotPeter Kageyama is the author of For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places, the follow up, Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places and the latest, The Emotional Infrastructure of Places.   Peter is a Senior Fellow with the Alliance for Innovation, a national network of city leaders and a special advisor to America In Bloom.

 He is the former President of Creative Tampa Bay, a grassroots community change organization and the co-founder of the Creative Cities Summit, an interdisciplinary conference that brings citizens and practitioners together around the big idea of ‘the city.’

He is an internationally sought-after community development consultant and grassroots engagement strategist who speaks all over the world about bottom-up community development and the amazing people who are making change happen.

Speaker Bios

Catherine Huckaby

Catherine Huckaby Catherine Huckaby serves as the Community Engagement Manager with the City of Fort Worth. The Community Engagement Office works with residents on building neighborhood capacity and the developing communication networks of city stakeholders, such as faith-based groups, neighborhood associations, schools and non-profit organizations vital to the success of city initiatives and programs. 

Huckaby recently began her second term as President of Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA). NUSA provides opportunities for diverse people and organizations to share their ideas, values, and experiences to build stronger communities. The NUSA 2021 Virtual Conference will be hosted by the City of Fort Worth, May 19-22, 2021.

Huckaby’ s prior experiences include serving as the Volunteer Southlake Program Coordinator, the managing member of Noble Mediation Services, LLC and a Children’s Director for a mid-size faith-based organization.

Huckaby received her BA from the University of North Texas, MPA from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a certified Family Mediator.


Marcie Adame, Garland

Marcie Adame SquareMarcie was born and raised in Garland.  She has completed 15 years in Garland ISD as a physical educator.  Just a few blocks from where she started her education, Coach Adame has spent the last five years serving students with behavioral and emotional challenges.  She is a life coach and studying to become a school counselor.  In 2016, Marcie was recognized for her service on the City of Garland's Community Multicultural Commission.  She's always enjoyed connecting with others and has actively supported her neighbors through newsletters, social media, National Night Out.  Marcie and her "Paws" are easy to recognize in their Yellow attire that greet neighbors on their daily walks.

Claudia McGuire, Plano

Claudia McGuireClaudia built a ministry career at Chase Oaks Church in Plano, Texas, beginning in 1997 and served in several roles including Women’s Ministry Pastor, Connections Pastor, First Impressions Pastor and Venue Pastor. She retired as Leadership Development Pastor in 2014. A graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Claudia is also a Certified Life Purpose Coach, enjoying coaching others in their various life stages and speaking at workshops, trainings, seminars, and retreats. She is a native Texan who has lived in many places around the USA. She has served as Secretary with Pitman Creek North HOA, where she has lived for the past 23 years, since 2016. Working together with the board to make best decisions for our community, increasing neighbor participation and helping to connect neighbor to neighbor are great perks of the job. She is also a recent graduate of the City of Plano’s Neighborhood Leadership Academy.


David Smith, Rowlett

David Smith squareDavid is a Garland native, and has spent the last years in Rowlett with his family. He is the Principal at David Larrick Smith Enterprises, a personal development consulting firm, and founder of the Smith Foundation for Excellence. He is a recent graduate of the Rowlett Citizen Police Academy and trusted resource for dozens of professional and civic organization, including the City of Rowlett Community Investment Advisory Board, Plano ISD, Garland ISD, and The City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. Known for his success as an educator, community advocate, and entrepreneur, David believes in, and works to create, positive citizen engagement.  In that spirit, he has developed and implemented several community based programs that encourage residents to embrace their duties as citizens and contribute their talents for the betterment of the mankind.  As the COVID pandemic has progressed this year, David has organized and executed the following programs in Rowlett, Cedar Hill and Plano: Anti-Apathy Pride Patrol, Light It Up Campaign, Rock the Block – Block Party Series, COVID Corner Concert Series, Neighbor Knowledge, Winner Circle – Youth Mentoring, and Operation Momma.


Toni Gale & Jeff Feyerherm

Team Tiger squareToni started her real estate career in 2006 after leaving a career in fashion and design. She met Jeff in July of 2015 and they started their real estate team in December 2015. They have four realtors on their team currently. Jeff has a building and remodeling background based of years of owning a flooring and restoration business and also working in the roofing and remodeling field. After almost five years of real estate sales and remodeling, Toni and Jeff are well versed on what to do to enhance the value of a property.
